Unregistered club riders make most of champs

More than 130 riders competed in the Central Otago Motocross Championships in Cromwell on Sunday. The event was hosted by the Central Otago Motorcycle Club and club president Ivan Taylor said he was delighted by how the day went. Riders came from as far afield as Christchurch and Invercargill to compete, with between 15 and 20 riders racing in each event, he said. This year the club introduced the clubman’s class, which allowed riders who weren’t registered to a club to compete, and that proved to be hugely popular. ‘‘We had more riders taking part in the clubman’s class than we expected, so that was great,’’ Mr Taylor said. It was hoped some of those riders would go on to join the club. Next month the club will host round three of the KTM South Island cross-country event which will be held at Tarras.
