Op­er­a­tional CT scan­ner

Otago Ra­di­ol­ogy med­i­cal imag­ing tech­nol­o­gists Vivien Haig and Laeti­tia Robin­son stand with the CT scan­ner which is op­er­a­tional at Dun­stan Hos­pi­tal. Lo­cal iwi blessed the $1 mil­lion de­vice on Fri­day, a year af­ter it was ap­proved by the South­ern Dis­trict Health Board. About 1000 peo­ple a year were ex­pected to use the scan­ner and would not have to travel to In­ver­cargill or Dunedin for the ser­vice.

En­vi­ron­ment week fun

Artist Nigel Wil­son will cre­ate amas­ter­piece while the pub­lic watches at Cen­tral Otago Waste­busters on Fri­day as part of World En­vi­ron­ment Week cel­e­bra­tions. Tours of the fa­cil­ity will also be hap­pen­ing. Other events this week in­clude plant­ing at Cen­ten­nial Park to­mor­row at 3pm, fea­ture film Do The Math with Bill McKibben at 7.30 to­mor­row and part 2 of Our Green Roadie at 12.15 on Fri­day.
