Drinking it in Hong Kong
The owners of Misha’s Vineyard are back from showing off their products at three of Hong Kong’s most prestigious locations. Misha and Andy Wilkinson have hosted events at the 5-star luxury hotel Langham Place, the prestigious Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and at The Peninsula – a Hong Kong landmark complete with the world’s largest Rolls Royce fleet. ‘‘It was pretty amazing,’’ Mrs Wilkinson said. The couple started their Bendigo vineyard 10 years ago after 17 years living in Singapore. From the beginning they decided to leverage their Asian experience as they targeted export markets, initially distributing to Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. Their wine is now sold in 22 countries. Their Hong Kong distributor, who also works with heavyweights such as Bollinger, Penfolds and Bombay Sapphire gin, had introduced them to The Peninsula, which last year sold three of their wines by the glass. The Peninsula asked the couple to return for a celebration this year and the other events grew from there. While there they also launched their reserve Verismo Pinot Noir. The couple will be sharing their ideas at small business education and networking events called The Biz this month, organised by Yellow. They will be held in Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin.
