Top wine man to visit

The Cen­tral Otago Pinot Noir Celebration or­gan­is­ers will be joined by Aubert de Vil­laine, of Do­maine de la Ro­ma­neeConti. English wine pub­li­ca­tion De­canter awarded him Man of the Year in 2010 for his achieve­ments and ‘‘his com­plete in­tegrity and his will­ing­ness to in­volve him­self in the wider com­mu­nity’’.

Li­brary re­view

The Queen­stown Lakes Dis­trict Coun­cil is un­der­tak­ing a strate­gic re­view of li­brary ser­vices, as rec­om­mended in the or­gan­i­sa­tional re­view. It is invit­ing pro­pos­als, which are due by Oc­to­ber 23. Pro­pos­als are also sought for the pro­vi­sion of le­gal ser­vices, clos­ing on Oc­to­ber 22.

Wanaka pool hours ex­tended

The Wanaka Com­mu­nity Pool is ex­tend­ing its hours and will close at 8pm Mon­day to Fri­day in­stead of 7pm. The pool will also open on Satur­day morn­ing be­tween 10am and 12pm for lane swim­ming as well as nor­mal hours of 12pm to 6pm on Satur­days and Sun­days.

Bathurst car show

A car show will be held at the Bul­lock Bar in Wanaka as part of Bathurst day on Sun­day. Prizes in­clude best car, ute and boy racer car as voted by the pub­lic.

Can­di­dates for trust

Nom­i­na­tions for the six po­si­tions on the Cen­tral Lakes Trust are: Tim Cado­gan, Cath Gil­mour, Neville Grubb, Alex Huf­fa­dine, Ber­nice Lep­per, Mal­colm Macpher­son, Rus­sell McGeorge, Stu Mil­lis, Michael Paardekooper, Peter Robin­son, Michael Sidey, Gil­bert Van Ree­nen, Carey Weaver and Greg Wilkin­son. Vot­ing forms will be de­liv­ered at the end of the month with vot­ing clos­ing on Novem­ber 22.

Com­mu­nity Awards

The TrustPower Queen­stown Lakes Dis­trict Com­mu­nity Awards have re­ceived 38 nom­i­na­tions for 2013. The supreme win­ner will win $1500 and a trip to the na­tional awards. The awards will be an­nounced and pre­sented on Novem­ber 11.
