Top wine man to visit
The Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration organisers will be joined by Aubert de Villaine, of Domaine de la RomaneeConti. English wine publication Decanter awarded him Man of the Year in 2010 for his achievements and ‘‘his complete integrity and his willingness to involve himself in the wider community’’.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council is undertaking a strategic review of library services, as recommended in the organisational review. It is inviting proposals, which are due by October 23. Proposals are also sought for the provision of legal services, closing on October 22.
Wanaka pool hours extended
The Wanaka Community Pool is extending its hours and will close at 8pm Monday to Friday instead of 7pm. The pool will also open on Saturday morning between 10am and 12pm for lane swimming as well as normal hours of 12pm to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Bathurst car show
A car show will be held at the Bullock Bar in Wanaka as part of Bathurst day on Sunday. Prizes include best car, ute and boy racer car as voted by the public.
Candidates for trust
Nominations for the six positions on the Central Lakes Trust are: Tim Cadogan, Cath Gilmour, Neville Grubb, Alex Huffadine, Bernice Lepper, Malcolm Macpherson, Russell McGeorge, Stu Millis, Michael Paardekooper, Peter Robinson, Michael Sidey, Gilbert Van Reenen, Carey Weaver and Greg Wilkinson. Voting forms will be delivered at the end of the month with voting closing on November 22.
The TrustPower Queenstown Lakes District Community Awards have received 38 nominations for 2013. The supreme winner will win $1500 and a trip to the national awards. The awards will be announced and presented on November 11.
