Central Otago soccer
Footwork: Photo: Glyn Davies. Alex Plimmer, of Wanaka, was a member of the Central Otago composite soccer team which competed in the Grade 13 South Island Football Tournament in Queenstown last week. The team was eighth out of 11 teams. The tournament was won by Otago who beat last year’s champions Canterbury Black after a penalty shoot out in extra time.
Golf Open volunteers
Up to 500 golf enthusiasts and people wanting to volunteer to be part of the 2014 New Zealand Open are sought. The tournament is from February 27 to March 2 at The Hills and Millbrook golf courses. Second for basketballers
Dunstan High School finished runner-up at the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Basketball tournament in Palmerston North. Competing in the second tier level (for smaller schools), the team went down to St Kevin’s College in the final 68-50. Dunstan had beaten St Kevin’s earlier in the tournament. Liam Mulvihill was named in the tournament team.
