New writ­ing ex­ec­u­tive

For­mer Christchurch woman Carla Munro is Lake Wanaka Tourism’s new con­tent and me­dia ex­ec­u­tive. An ex­pe­ri­enced travel writer and keen out­door­swoman, the mother of four said she was look­ing for­ward to work­ing with busi­nesses and ‘‘pro­mot­ing my favourite lit­tle piece of heaven on earth’’.

Wanaka on Face­book

Po­lice in Wanaka have launched a Face­book page. The launch co­in­cided with the of­fi­cial open­ing of a new po­lice sta­tion in Wanaka. Dr Com­post will be shar­ing tips and tricks for easy com­posit­ing with fuss and smell tomorrow at Wanaka Waste­busters be­tween 12 and 2pm.

Fes­ti­val breaks even

Or­gan­is­ers of the South­ern Lakes Fes­ti­val of Colour have an­nounced it broke even dur­ing this year’s event. The fes­ti­val’s an­nual re­port re­vealed the to­tal in­come for the fes­ti­val pe­riod 2012-13 was $914,638, up from $900,686 in 2010-11. Or­gan­is­ers have also out­lined plans for an off-year pro­gramme in 2014 in­clud­ing one­off per­for­mances and a ‘fes­ti­val of ideas’ based on the main pro­gramme’s highly pop­u­lar As­pir­ing Con­ver­sa­tions ses­sions.

In­for­ma­tion sought on crash

Wanaka po­lice want in­for­ma­tion on what they be­lieve was a car crash at the in­ter­sec­tion of Al­bury Rd and Kings Dr early Satur­day morn­ing. Con­sta­ble Peter Reed said they were called to the scene at 8am on Sun­day and found a dam­aged sign and bro­ken parts from a white car. It could have been a drink-driver or teenagers but if any­one had in­for­ma­tion about the in­ci­dent they were urged to con­tact Wanaka po­lice, Mr Reed said.

Duck Race

The Wanaka Ro­tary duck race will be held at 10am on Sun­day and tick­ets to the race will be on sale in Wanaka busi­nesses. The first duck over the line in the Bul­lock Creek race will win $500.
