Lovers of Ivan Clarke’s art could soon get their hands on the first original work from his Lonely Dog collection, which is up for sale. A mixed-media artwork features a dog named ‘‘Alessio’’ playing a 24-carat leaf Alveridgea banjo. It is the latest work in his Dream Series and put on display at the relaunch of the Wanaka Fine Art Gallery last week. It will go to auction within the next week. The dream series concept was based around a dog that sees in black and white but ‘‘dreams in colour’’. ‘‘If you ever are wondering what your dog is dreaming about when he’s twitching beside the fire, this could be it.’’ Mr Clarke said for years he had been approached by people asking him to sell his work but he decided not to, until now. He described the art work as being ‘‘a little bit out there’’.
