Wanaka’s Rippon winery and Central Otago’s Felton Road were two of only three New Zealand wineries included in the prestigious United Statesbased Wines and Spirit magazine’s Top 100 tastings. The third was Marlborough’s Saint Clair.
The Wanaka Salvation Army store can now sell furniture. Lieutenant Shaun and Captain Karen Baker said the army leased the building and decided to extend after the owner offered them the larger space. It has meant The Picture Lounge gallery has been moved to the Spencer House Mall. Mrs Baker said the store was doing its best to reduce prices after complaints from the community.
Centre on agenda
Plans to have Wanaka’s sports centre ready by June 2016 will be discussed at a Queenstown Lakes District Council meeting tomorrow. A project report recommends the council acquire an extra 1.758ha alongside the Three Parks site and renegotiate its agreement with Willowridge and Ballantyne Investments to ensure that the complex can be built to its 2016 deadline if it goes ahead.
