Cyclist ‘‘pole vaulted’’
Police expect to charge a Queenstown man who allegedly crashed into a cyclist on Saturday evening. Senior constable Blackford said the 39-year-old was turning right off Frankton Rd into Yewlett Cres but apparently failed to spot a cyclist, who crashed into the passenger door while riding a $7000 bike. The cyclist ‘‘pole vaulted’’ over the car and landed on the ground, skidding a short distance and suffering bruising and scratches.
A 23-year-old Chinese tourist was forbidden to drive after police received a complaint about his driving on Saturday at 5pm. The man was crossing the centre line on Malaghans Rd and the driver of a four-wheel-drive was forced to pull over and stop, police said.
