Touch player to play for Otago
Cromwell touch rugby player Matt Bolch, pictured, has been selected in the Otago under-17 touch rugby team. The 15-yearold made the team after trials in Mosgiel. The team is made up of players from Oamaru, Milton, Mosgiel and Dunedin and will play in three tournaments over the next few weeks as part of the South Island interprovincial series.
Jump Jammers off to nationals
Three Central Otago and Queenstown-Lakes jump jam teams will be competing in the national jump jam championships in Auckland this weekend. Cromwell College, Remarkables Primary School and Goldfields Primary School will all have teams competing, while Emily White, who is part of the Cromwell College team, will also compete in the individual competition.
Motatapu bike race fills in record time
Entries for next year’s Motatapu mountainbike race have closed, with the 2000 spaces available filled in record time. The 47km bike event starts at Glendhu Bay and finishes at Arrowtown, traversing the Motatapu, Soho and Glencoe Stations along the way. The event will be held on March 8, and anyone still wanting to enter can email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the waiting list.
