Com­mu­nity Board Skype meet­ing

Wanaka Com­mu­nity Board mem­ber Ella Law­ton was able to join the board meet­ing held in Wanaka yes­ter­day de­spite be­ing in Auck­land. Miss Law­ton joined the meet­ing elec­tron­i­cally through Skype for dis­cus­sion pur­poses but un­der stand­ing or­ders she was not per­mit­ted to vote on any item and was tech­ni­cally an apol­ogy.

Floaters fined

Four peo­ple who were not wear­ing life jack­ets while float­ing in in­flat­able dinghies in the Deans Bank area were each fined $300 on Mon­day night. Queen­stown Lakes Dis­trict Har­bour­mas­ter Marty Black said he was con­tacted by a con­cerned Al­bert Town res­i­dent and the three women and one man were sum­moned off the river. Mr Black said he hoped the in­ci­dent would help other peo­ple un­der­stand that ev­ery­one had to wear a life­jacket at all times if they were on the wa­ter in a boat of any kind that was un­der 6m in length.
