An art exhibition featuring artworks by Greg Lewis, Jon Thorn, Danny Brisbane and Tim Chapman will be held in Wanaka on Saturday night. All work in the Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor exhibition would be for sale and were original pieces. The exhibition starts at 6pm and will be held at 173 Plantation Rd.
About 20 people attended the WasteBusters annual meeting in Wanaka last week. General manager Sue Coutts said this year the centre would be trying to get more people to recycle in a bid to reduce recyclable material going to landfill. More than 5000 tonnes of waste was being sent to landfill, about 96 tonnes a week, which could possibly be further sorted, Ms Coutts said.
Central Otago tipples might have missed the top trophies in this year’s Air New Zealand awards but there was plenty of representation in the gold medal category for pinot noir. Grasshopper Rock Central Otago, Lowburn Ferry Home Block and Wooing Tree all won ‘‘pure gold’’ medals for their pinot noir and commitment to sustainable production. Other Otago winners for pinot noir were Archangel, a Queensberry winery, Domain Road vineyard in Bannockburn, Greylands Ridge in Alexandra and Mt Michael Bessie’s Block.
