Fi­nal Jacks Point run

Queen­stown run­ner Si­mon Green won the half marathon in the fi­nal race in the Queen­stown Fron­trun­ner Se­ries at Jacks Point on the weekend. A $3000 World Trav­ellers’ voucher was won by Derek Mel­nick in a prize draw. While the monthly runs are over for the year a 3km or 5km Santa Run will take place next Wed­nes­day at 6.30pm at Jacks Point. It raises money for the Kid­sCan char­ity.

NZ curlers fourth

The men’s New Zealand curl­ing team fin­ished fourth at the Asia-Pa­cific curl­ing cham­pi­onships in Shang­hai last week. The team in­cluded Sean and Scott Becker and Phil Dowling, all from Man­iototo. The team needs to fin­ish in the top two at an Olympic qual­i­fy­ing tour­na­ment in Ger­many next month to qual­ify for next year’s Sochi Olympics in Rus­sia.

Cross-coun­try moun­tain bik­ing

The Otago cross-coun­try moun­tain­bik­ing and sin­gle speed cham­pi­onships will be held at Hog­burn Gully, in Naseby this Sun­day. The event, or­gan­ised by moun­tain bik­ing Otago, will fea­ture cross-coun­try events be­gin­ning at 10am, with the sin­gle speed cham­pi­onships be­gin­ning at 1.30pm. The event will be sign-posted from the Royal Ho­tel car park.

Power­boat re­gatta

The an­nual Lake Dunstan Boat Club power­boat re­gatta will be held in Cromwell this weekend. Com­peti­tors ex­pected to take part in­clude Cromwell’s An­thony Robert­son in his new For­mula 1 boat built in Italy, as well as Ryan Birch, also from Cromwell, who has this sea­son stepped up from For­mula 3 to For­mula 1 com­pe­ti­tion. Best view­ing will be from Old Cromwell Town and Prin­ters Bay.

Tri Woo­ing Tree

The third an­nual Tri Woo­ing Tree event will be held in Cromwell on De­cem­ber 8. The event is held in and around the Woo­ing Tree Vine­yard and in­cludes a com­pet­i­tive triathlon and duathlon, be­gin­ner events and chil­dren’s events. The triathlon events in­clude a swim cat­e­gory in the vine­yard’s ir­ri­ga­tion dam.
