Car pins walker
An elderly woman was struck by a car in Wanaka on Monday after another elderly driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake when parking. Senior Constable Sean Hurley, of Wanaka, said the driver of the Toyota Corolla car had been attempting to park on Helwick St just after 3pm when they accelerated, knocking over a parking sign and hitting the pedestrian. The car drove over the woman and crashed into the window of Gallery Thirty Three. Emergency services freed the woman and She was treated for moderate injuries. Mr Hurley said investigations into the crash would continue.
