Motorsport lovers will be able to watch racing action from their own balconies – at a price. Highlands Motorsport Park’s Pitlane Apartments are up for sale with an asking price of $545,000, plus GST. The 12 luxury apartments directly in front of the pit lane were designed and developed by Grant Aitken and Ian Begg who had the original vision for a motorsport park in Cromwell. The apartments have large garaging on the ground level with the ability to store up to three vehicles, plus a small workshop. There is a twobedroom apartment on the upper level with panoramic views. Harcourts Real Estate agent Peter Bennetts said he had already been getting inquiries from interested buyers around the world. ‘‘It’s a great opportunity for those people who want to be involved. You are sitting overlooking the pit lane itself and that’s where all the action happens. You also get a good view of part of the track from there as well.’’ The Pitlane Apartments titles were freehold and the apartments could be rented out for additional income. People were also showing interest in the industrial sites, Mr Bennetts said. ‘‘Of the 42 industrial sites, there is 26 that have been sold or have names on them. There is a good number of locals who are looking at using them for vehicle storage with accommodation above and there is a couple looking at running small businesses from them.’’ All building designs had to be approved by a board, and there were strict conditions associated with the build such as 15 per cent of the site had to be landscaped and 80 per cent had to be covered in native plants. Titles would be issued on August 14. Highlands Motorsport Park business manager Josie Spillane said they were delighted to see other parties realised the potential that Highlands brought to the region and were keen to leverage from their investment. ‘‘We are confident that the Highlands Industrial area will provide a further economic benefit to the area and enhance not only Highlands, but Cromwell as a destination,’’ she said. ‘‘Grant and Ian had the original vision for a motorsport park in Cromwell, and we are confident that they are on to a winner here.’’
