Wanaka, Alexandra and Queenstown will be the backdrop for special performances by the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir this week. The internationally awarded national choir will present a mix of choral music from classical, folk and jazz with singing of the highest international standards. A rehearsal show will be held in Queenstown tomorrow before full performances were held in Wanaka on Friday night and Alexandra on Saturday night. The choir was made up of high school students from 38 schools across the country and Dunstan High School student Lauren Ross was the only local singer in the 60 strong line-up and will sing soprano. ‘‘I am proud and excited to share beautiful Central Otago with other choir members, as well as showing my local community what it’s like to be involved in such a top choir,’’ she said.
