Build­ing goes bal­lis­tic Big con­struc­tion projects due to start

Wanaka is set to be­come a civil con­struc­tion and tradies’ haven with sev­eral big ticket projects ex­pected to be­gin in the next 18 months. Wil­lowridge sold over $5 mil­lion worth of sec­tions at Mead­ow­stone on Sun­day when it re­leased stage seven of the de­vel­op­ment. All 18 sec­tions in the stage sold for $249,000. With in­creased de­mand on the day, two fur­ther sec­tions in stage eight of the de­vel­op­ment, which in­cluded 11 sec­tions, were sold. Wil­lowridge sales man­ager Tony Brown said he had not seen such high de­mand for sec­tions for many years. ‘‘This is another good sign that the lo­cal con­struc­tion in­dus­try will be very buoy­ant in the years ahead,’’ he said. Con­struc­tion on the two stages was set to start soon. Wil­lowridge man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Al­lan Dip­pie said ‘‘we are re­ally busy this year.
