Captivating acrobatics

Central Otago Mirror - - WANAKA NEWS -

Chinese acrobats enthralled an Alexandra crowd last week with a colourful, cheeky, complicated array of mesmerising and magical entertainment. Zirka Circus spokeswoman Jan Burnell said the acrobats, aged between 13 and 21, came from all over China and had studied at a respected circus school in Beijing. The Zirka Circus had been touring New Zealand for four years, entertaining crowds with their sometimes nail-biting acts. ‘‘They have their own education system on tour and their own cook who cooks traditional Chinese food for them. ‘‘They do one or two tours with the circus, then go back to China to learn some new things.’’ The circus has visited Queenstown and is next travelling to Southland.
