Athletes take on two-day challenge
Red Bull will sponsor a new multisport race around Lake Wanaka in October this year.
The Red Bull Defiance will see 300 hand-picked athletes competing in the two-day event which includes running, kayaking and mountainbiking across six highcountry stations with target shooting.
Newly branded Red Bull athlete, world multisport champion, Wanaka resident and double consecutive Coast to Coast race winner Braden Currie is on board to help shape the race.
‘‘Based on my experience of team stage racing in China, I was inspired to develop a style of race that offers epic challenge across a variety of terrains with the fun element of racing in a team.’’
