Central Otago Mirror - - WANAKA NEWS -

A forum to consider how to increase conservation efforts will take place at Edgewater Hotel in Wanaka tonight at 7.30.

Forum organiser Megan Williams said she wants the meeting, hosted by the Wanaka Conservation Department and Shaping our Future, to begin a long-term collaborative effort to co-ordinate the areas conservation efforts.

‘‘We know people value our spectacular environment and they list enhancing and preserving our environment as their No 1 priority.

‘‘This forum aims to bring people together so they can learn about each other’s conservation projects and find ways to work together efficiently and effectively,’’ Williams said.

Patron of the Fiordland Conservation Trust Greg Hay will discuss how collaboration and thinking outside the square helps with ‘getting the work done’.

Following the forum a volunteer taskforce will be established to support ongoing conservation collaborative efforts.
