Success a team effort
Queenstown mountainbiker Kate Fluker has thanked two special men in her life for getting her to the Commonwealth Games.
Fluker, 26, is the only woman to be announced in the New Zealand team’s mountainbiking squad to compete in Glasgow.
Currently in Austria competing in the UCI World Cup series she put up a Facebook message showing her excitement after the announcement last week.
‘‘When I started biking I can honestly say I never even dreamed this could happen but with a lot of blood, sweat and tears literally this year, all the hard work has paid off.’’
She thanked everybody who had helped her along the way, including sponsors.
‘‘Special thank you to Sam Thompson my coach. He has helped me and believed in me since day one and has made this possible. Also to Reon [Boe] the best boyfriend in all the land and training partner! Without these two dudes I’m not convinced I would be here so thank you.’’
