Suc­cess a team ef­fort

Queen­stown moun­tain­biker Kate Fluker has thanked two spe­cial men in her life for get­ting her to the Com­mon­wealth Games.

Fluker, 26, is the only woman to be an­nounced in the New Zealand team’s moun­tain­bik­ing squad to com­pete in Glas­gow.

Cur­rently in Aus­tria com­pet­ing in the UCI World Cup se­ries she put up a Face­book mes­sage show­ing her ex­cite­ment af­ter the an­nounce­ment last week.

‘‘When I started bik­ing I can hon­estly say I never even dreamed this could hap­pen but with a lot of blood, sweat and tears lit­er­ally this year, all the hard work has paid off.’’

She thanked ev­ery­body who had helped her along the way, in­clud­ing spon­sors.

‘‘Spe­cial thank you to Sam Thomp­son my coach. He has helped me and be­lieved in me since day one and has made this pos­si­ble. Also to Reon [Boe] the best boyfriend in all the land and train­ing part­ner! With­out these two dudes I’m not con­vinced I would be here so thank you.’’
