A Central Otago man charged with distributing child pornography appeared in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.

The 22-year-old appeared before Judge Michael Turner charged with six counts of distributing objectionable publications on October 10 last year.

Not guilty pleas were previously entered and lawyer Sonia Vidal said she was considering applying to the High Court to address a unique question of law on the meaning of "distribution".

Previously, the court was told the charges could be amended, given the alleged use of peer-topeer filesharing networks.

Judge Turner granted continuing interim name suppression and told the defendant the matter was proceeding towards a judge-alone trial.
