Mixed Ice Hockey results
Southern Stampede player Cameron Frear scrabbles with Botany Swarm players Thomas Heather, back, and Jeff Sanders on the weekend. The Stampede posted a win and a loss during the two matches played. Next weekend the team meets the West Auckland Admirals in Auckland.

Queenstown cross country rider Kate Fluker and elite women’s downhill rider Alanna Columb have been named in the Kiwi team for the cycling world championships in Norway in September. Cross- country competition begins with the team relay on September 3 followed by three days of individual racing. Downhill titles will be decided on September 7.
Currie second in Europe
Xterra Switzerland winner Reuben Ruzafa beat Wanaka’s Braden Currie by only 20 seconds in Saturday’s race. After making a last minute decision to race, Currie was rapt with this performance. He will travel to Xonrupt, in north-east France for the Xterra France race on July 6, where he will be doing his best to finish one step higher up the podium.
Godzone comes to Wanaka
The Godzone adventure race will be staged in Wanaka from February 27 to March 9 next year with teams of four racing non stop over seven days in and around the region. Race director Warren Bates said said the race had received plenty of interest after its third edition was staged in Kaikoura this year.
