Mixed Ice Hockey re­sults

South­ern Stam­pede player Cameron Frear scrab­bles with Botany Swarm play­ers Thomas Heather, back, and Jeff San­ders on the weekend. The Stam­pede posted a win and a loss dur­ing the two matches played. Next weekend the team meets the West Auck­land Ad­mi­rals in Auck­land.

Our NZ cy­cle reps

Queen­stown cross coun­try rider Kate Fluker and elite women’s downhill rider Alanna Columb have been named in the Kiwi team for the cy­cling world cham­pi­onships in Nor­way in Septem­ber. Cross- coun­try com­pe­ti­tion be­gins with the team re­lay on Septem­ber 3 fol­lowed by three days of in­di­vid­ual rac­ing. Downhill ti­tles will be de­cided on Septem­ber 7.

Cur­rie sec­ond in Europe

Xterra Switzer­land win­ner Reuben Ruzafa beat Wanaka’s Braden Cur­rie by only 20 sec­onds in Satur­day’s race. Af­ter mak­ing a last minute de­ci­sion to race, Cur­rie was rapt with this per­for­mance. He will travel to Xon­rupt, in north-east France for the Xterra France race on July 6, where he will be do­ing his best to fin­ish one step higher up the podium.

God­zone comes to Wanaka

The God­zone ad­ven­ture race will be staged in Wanaka from Fe­bru­ary 27 to March 9 next year with teams of four rac­ing non stop over seven days in and around the re­gion. Race di­rec­tor War­ren Bates said said the race had re­ceived plenty of in­ter­est af­ter its third edi­tion was staged in Kaik­oura this year.
