It’s win­ter and no doubt you’re in love with the fire crack­ling in your lounge. But it’s time to ven­ture out and catch some of the burn­ing tunes from Kiwi mu­sic leg­ends Katchafire, who will be in Queen­stown and Wanaka this weekend as part of their New Zealand win­ter tour.

Mir­ror re­porter Che Baker caught up with lead singer and gui­tarist Lo­gan Bell for a quick Q and A.

Do you have a favourite spot or ac­tiv­ity to do in the area?

We love do­ing ex­treme things

QAev­ery time we come to Queen­stown. We’ve done fly by wire, bungy jumped and the Shotover Jet. We are hop­ing to jump out of a plane this time, para­chute at­tached of course.

What can those at­tend­ing ex­pect from your shows?

Us to be jumped up on adrenalin from jump­ing out of a plane. It’s party time.

What key in­gre­di­ents have made Katchafire such a suc­cess and still strong af­ter 11 years?

Our work ethic and the whanau ap­proach to busi­ness. How do you de­scribe the new ma­te­rial you guys have pro­duced

QAQAQ­for your up­com­ing re­lease?

It’s Katchafire baby, au­to­matic guar­an­teed good vibes!

What is one pos­i­tive and one neg­a­tive about be­ing on the road tour­ing?

Mak­ing new fans friends and miss­ing fam­ily.

Which town is bet­ter – Queen­stown or Wanaka?

We’ve played in Queen­stown more, but Rip­pon fes­ti­val is hard to beat. Katchafire have enough love for both, we can’t choose.
