It’s winter and no doubt you’re in love with the fire crackling in your lounge. But it’s time to venture out and catch some of the burning tunes from Kiwi music legends Katchafire, who will be in Queenstown and Wanaka this weekend as part of their New Zealand winter tour.
Mirror reporter Che Baker caught up with lead singer and guitarist Logan Bell for a quick Q and A.
Do you have a favourite spot or activity to do in the area?
We love doing extreme things
QAevery time we come to Queenstown. We’ve done fly by wire, bungy jumped and the Shotover Jet. We are hoping to jump out of a plane this time, parachute attached of course.
What can those attending expect from your shows?
Us to be jumped up on adrenalin from jumping out of a plane. It’s party time.
What key ingredients have made Katchafire such a success and still strong after 11 years?
Our work ethic and the whanau approach to business. How do you describe the new material you guys have produced

What is one positive and one negative about being on the road touring?
Making new fans friends and missing family.
Which town is better – Queenstown or Wanaka?
We’ve played in Queenstown more, but Rippon festival is hard to beat. Katchafire have enough love for both, we can’t choose.
