Drink-driving vexes

Central Otago Mirror - - NEWS -

Queenstown police are calling on mates and community members to curb a spate of high level drunk drivers on the roads as winter kicks in.

Senior Constable Chris Blackford said multiple court appearances in the past week by drink drivers who had recorded breath alcohol readings in excess of 900 or 1000mcg, when the legal limit is 400mcg, were disturbing.

‘‘. . . these people are grossly intoxicated and it’s in everyone’s best interests to get them off the road.’’
