‘‘Bring on next year’’, Winter Quest event manager Nigel Lines says.

Lines, who was the man behind the inaugural mountainbike event, said people travelled from around the region, as well as Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill for the off-road race which looped around Quest Farm at Lowburn.

The track was challenging but achievable for all ages, with two 10-years-olds completing 10km loops each, as well as veteran riders, Lines said.

Lines wanted to thank the landowners, exhibitors and sponsors of the event.

He was already playing around with the course to make some ‘‘tweaks’’ for the next event, which would include an afterparty, he said. He was also planning a summer event. ◗ Overall winners – men’s: Paul Wright, Wanaka, 1.52; Shaun Portegys, Alexandra 1.54; Bob McLachlan, Wanaka, 2.02.
