High Country night-out
Yeeha! Dust off your cowboy boots and hat for A night out in the High Country when it saunters into the Lake Wanaka Centre this Saturday for a starstudded night of country music amongst the tussocks. De-nuded by recent thefts, the Cardrona bra fence is re-populating once again, to the joy of its supporters, and the ire of its detractors. The much photographed and controversial tourist attraction even rates its own page on internet encyclopedia Wikipedia, which has faithfully recorded the bra fence’s ups and downs at the hands of enthusiastic donors, not to mention sharp scissors and critics, in its 14-year history.
Big Latch On
To celebrate mums, babies and families and World Breastfeeding Week 2014, Big Latch On Events are running on Friday. Mothers are invited to come along for morning tea and help break the New Zealand record for the number of women simultaneously breastfeeding at 10.30am. The Wanaka event takes place at Cinema Paradiso between 10am and 11.30am.
