Speed, precision and style were showcased by the next generation of top skiers and snowboarders who took to Cardrona Alpine Resort on Monday for the Otago Southland secondary school ski and snowboard championships.
Cardrona event manager Graham Dunbar said more than 100 students spent the bluebird day competing in ski giant slalom, ski and snowboard-cross speed racing and snowboard slope-style events.
The competition doubled as a talent identification for New Zealand team selection and results would be reviewed by Snow Sports NZ, Dunbar said.
Event team member Libby Blackley said standout athletes included Ronan Thompson, Zoe Sadowski Synnott, Ben Richards and Craig Murray, of Mt Aspiring College, and Alex Hull, of Wakatipu High School.
Cardrona will host the South Island secondary school champs on September 13 and 14.
