Model hunt under way
Three Central Otago businesses have joined forces to change the life of one aspiring person and showcase local talent.
Tu Meke Hairdressing Alexandra and Cromwell, Crossfit Alexandra, and Harmony Skin & Beauty Alexandra have launched an inaugural model search competition.
The winner will receive a year’s prize package of cuts and colours, skincare, brow shape and massage, and a Crossfit Alexandra membership.
The winner will also become the promotional face for the businesses during the year.
Tu Meke owner Tim Riwhi said he pitched the idea to the other business owners as a way to not only market themselves but more importantly, inspire young talent.
‘‘I wanted to give young people something cool to look forward to and aim towards, and Model Search gives everyone a chance to put themselves out there and try something new.’’
Sophie Hull, of Harmony Skin & Beauty, said the competition was about motivating people, building confidence and doing something different, not about being the fittest or prettiest.
The top 10 finalists would go through to a finale night which would involve having hair and make-up done, a photo shoot, styling with Moodie Tuesday and the chance to present themselves at a ticketed event. The winner would be judged by three independent judges.
‘‘We really wanted to start something up in the area that was a little bit different. There is not a huge amount of commitment, and although it’s called a model search, there is no expectation they will be doing a lot of catwalk modelling.’’
They welcomed a range of ages, men and women, she said.
Entries close on August 31. Forms canbepickedup fromTuMeke in Alexandra and Cromwell, Harmony Skin & Beauty and Crossfit Alexandra or see details on the Facebook page Model Search.
