Mi­nor earth­quakes

An earth­quake with a mag­ni­tude of 3.3 struck 15km south-west of Wanaka on Sun­day at 3.36am. The depth of the earth­quake was 7km and GeoNet re­ported the quake as be­ing of moder­ate in­ten­sity. A sec­ond earth­quake struck 45km north-east of Wanaka on Mon­day morn­ing at 4.08am which was re­ported as a mag­ni­tude 2.2 and 5km deep.

In­ter­sec­tion clash

A driver who failed to stop at the stop sign at the Brown­ston and Dun­gar­von streets in­ter­sec­tion was is­sued with an infringement no­tice by Wanaka po­lice last week. Wanaka sub-area com­man­der se­nior sergeant Al­lan Grindell said no-one was in­jured but both cars, one a rental, were mod­er­ately dam­aged.
