Mad Mike to be let loose on Highlands’ track
Daring displays of ’’shredding sideways’’ by global drift sensation ‘‘Mad’’ Mike Whiddett will be a part of the motorsport action of the Highlands 101 event in November.
Whiddett will bring his Mazda RX7 to the event at the Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell to put on a lunchtime show for race fans.
‘‘I’m pumped to now be a part of the Highlands 101 event. I’m one of many drifters who eagerly watched the Highlands Motorsport Park come together and have been praying for the opportunity to drift the track ever since,’’ he said.
‘‘I was down at Highlands midAugust and was fortunate enough to get the grand tour of the facility and drive the amazing track. This time, I cannot wait to do it again but in the one and only MADBUL, RX7, shredding sideways.’’
Highlands’ event marketing manager Melanie Kees said ‘‘Mike is known for wanting to push the boundaries as an ambassador of the sport of drifting’’.
‘‘There’s no doubt fans will be in for a treat as Mad Mike lets loose on the Highlands’ circuit.’’
This year’s Highlands 101 race will again see up to 42 race driver vie for the chequered flag at the end of 101 laps, or 31⁄ intense hours, on the 4.1 kilometre Highlands circuit.
