Champion weightlifters were in Queenstown for a coaching session on technique with CrossFit athletes at the weekend.

Organiser Taryn Perry said the Remarkables CrossFit team welcomed New Zealand Olympic coach Simon Kent and Olympic champion weightlifter and Crossfitter Bailey Rogers to the two-day Queenstown course.

‘‘This is a really good course, upskilling our clients,’’ Perry said.

Kent said the course offered technique instruction and improved the approach used by some crossfitters, who occasionally lacked technique. ‘‘We’ve got 16 athletes and weightlifters from various health and fitness backgrounds, one being CrossFit.

‘‘We’ve got strength and conditioning and people who are passionate about Olympic weightlifting.’’

The course, accredited by the Australian Weightlifting Federation, has run once before in the South Island.
