First rule of health: read this book
The science on longevity is clear, says the author, but how do we apply it? Health advocate Jason Shon Bennett has released a new book, and will be speaking about them in Wanaka and Queenstown next week. We feature an extract from the book.
What I am interested in is very, very simple: people living a long healthy life free of drugs and disease. From what I have seen over the last nearly 30 years of study, exceptional health is achievable for almost everyone.
We actually know what to do. The science is rigorous, clear, unanimous and signposted by the centenarians.
The questions then stand: How do we change our bad habits? How do we eat less? How do we raise our children on better-quality food? How do we educate them on what modern junk food does to the human body? How do we lower the food-borne illness that is heart disease? How do we annihilate the global pandemic that is obesity, which directly leads to preventable diabetes?
How do we alter our daily lives in a way that we wipe out modern lifestyle cancers such as bowel, lung, breast, liver, and prostate cancer?
What are the simple things that we can all do every day that will make the biggest difference to our health, vitality, ageing, longevity, disease risk and genetic expression? How do we regain control over our health to the degree that we are not relying on man-made medications and drugs to prop us up as we age?
I will guide you through what I consider to be the top-20 rules that you need to practise, learn and investigate – daily – to get your health fundamentals absolutely right. These are what I know to be the most important things you can do to get well and stay well.
I call them My 20 GOLDEN Rules. What does GOLDEN stand for? Genetics Optimised by Lifestyle, Diet and Environment, Naturally!
This means you taking control
My20 of your genetic expression, via your diet, lifestyle and environment, in a natural and balanced way, to optimise your health and longevity. Prevention is the cure; the cure is prevention.
