Autumn colours feature in cycle trail promotions
Central Otago trails are to feature in a Tourism New Zealand promotional video.
A film crew commissioned by Tourism New Zealand was in Central Otago for five days last week filming both the Roxburgh Gorge and Clutha Gold Trails.
Tourism Central Otago Marketing and Product Development Manager Pam Broadhead said once completed, the two videos would add to the series of promotional videos on New Zealand’s Great Rides which Tourism New Zealand primarily used in its campaign marketing overseas.
‘‘These two new videos will be particularly utilised in marketing campaigns promoting shoulder season travel to New Zealand and filming has been timed to ensure the best of Central Otago’s autumn colours are captured.’’
Tourism Central Otago, together with the Roxburgh Gorge and Clutha Gold Trails trusts were helping the film crew with ground logistics and co-ordination of shoot locations, she said.
‘‘The videos are filmed as if telling the story of two couples completing the trails, and not only showcase the stunning scenery but also include supporting activities such as places to stay, places to eat and things to do.
‘‘With Central Otago’s autumn colours at full strength and the warm welcome of locals the production crew is excited about the powerful images they have already captured . . . To capture the scale and wider elements the experienced crew are using a drone so we anticipate some fabulous aerial footage of the lake, river and autumn colours,’’ Broadhead said.
