An opportunity to meet Karpovsky

Arrowtown, Cromwell and Ranfurly theatre goers have an opportunity to meet Karpovsky.

Sir Jon Trimmer and Helen Moulder star in Meeting Karpovksy, a piece of theatre which marries dance and drama.

Trimmer’s dancing and Moulder’s acting make magical theatre, according to reviews.

Part of Arts On Tour New Zealand, the production is funded by Creative NZ for staging in rural and smaller centres around the country so artists travel to their audiences rather than the other way around.

The story is of a woman who is taught to dance by her hero.

Moulder has been working as an actor/singer for four decades in New Zealand, Britain and Australia. Her many roles include Virginia Woolf in Vita and Virginia, and Vivian Bearing in Wit, for which she won Actress of the Year in the 2000 Wellington Theatre Awards.

Trimmer has been a mainstay of the Royal New Zealand Ballet for 56 years.

The play is directed by Brisbanebased Sue Rider who has received 18 industry awards in Australia and New Zealand.
