The 50-day marathon man makes it over the finish line
Mal Law, the Wanaka mountain running community’s ‘‘chief nutter’’, has finally bagged his $505,050 fundraising target for the Mental Health Foundation.
He achieved his goal during a run on Mt Eden in Auckland yesterday.
Mal started his campaign earlier this year by running a mountain a day for 50 days, most of them marathons.
By the time he finished his High Five-0 Challenge, he had exceeded his initial $250,000 goal and was almost at his revised $505,050 goal.
Law and friends had until tomorrow to present the cheque to the foundation, so they decided to run again, with Law vowing not to leave Mt Eden until he was done. The goal was achieved shortly after he completed his first lap.
