The 50-day marathon man makes it over the fin­ish line

Mal Law, the Wanaka moun­tain run­ning com­mu­nity’s ‘‘chief nut­ter’’, has fi­nally bagged his $505,050 fundrais­ing tar­get for the Men­tal Health Foun­da­tion.

He achieved his goal dur­ing a run on Mt Eden in Auck­land yes­ter­day.

Mal started his cam­paign ear­lier this year by run­ning a moun­tain a day for 50 days, most of them marathons.

By the time he fin­ished his High Five-0 Chal­lenge, he had ex­ceeded his ini­tial $250,000 goal and was al­most at his re­vised $505,050 goal.

Law and friends had un­til to­mor­row to present the cheque to the foun­da­tion, so they de­cided to run again, with Law vow­ing not to leave Mt Eden un­til he was done. The goal was achieved shortly af­ter he com­pleted his first lap.

Fundrais­ing run­ner Mal Law has reached his goal of rais­ing $505,050 for the Men­tal Health Foun­da­tion.
