Each year the Contact Energy Saturday in the Park event during the Blossom Festival has proved to be a huge hit.

Catering to all ages, it offers the opportunity to get out, meet up with friends and family and enjoy what can only be described as a hive of activity.

The event kicks off with the Grand Procession at Pioneer Park, where thousands upon thousands of people will line Centennial Avenue and Tarbert St to get a glimpse of the action.

They will then make their way to a fun afternoon at the Contact Energy Saturday in the Park. The kids can sit back and enjoy a children’s entertainment stage with clowns, jugglers and magic shows, whilst mum and dad will certainly love the music entertainment on the second stage. You can expect knock-out performances from Wanaka-based entertainer Jody Direen and her band, as well as Queenstown-based party band LA Social Club.

Get on your feet and enjoy these fantastic performances, all the while being surrounded by your friends and family.

The official crowning ceremony and awarding of prizes for the floats and other parade entries will be held at 4pm. And if you’re one of those shoppers who love getting their Christmas gifts purchased prior to the silly season, then you are well catered to here as well.

There will be plenty of stalls to purchase from, as well as craft markets offering wares with a point of difference.

To keep you well fed and hydrated there will also be plenty of food and beverages.

Contact Energy Saturday in the Park is an event to bring the whole family to, and offers large discounts on bulk tickets purchased. These tickets are available at the gate on the day, and children under five are free.

So gather grandma, the cousins, mum, dad and the kids, and head down to Saturday in the Park, a day out for everyone to enjoy!
