Tractors roll into town for last year’s CrankUp event.

The warmer weather is finally upon us, and if you’re looking for a fun family day out for mum, dad and the kids, the annual Crank-Up event in Edendale is certainly top of the list. The Edendale Vintage Machinery Club’s annual Crank-Up event not only attracts visitors from across the region, but also from around New Zealand and even overseas.

It is an event that draws crowds from far and wide, certainly, but it’s also a fantastic place in which to renew old friendships, and maybe even start some afresh.

It is highly regarded as a must-see event, and continues to be so as it approaches its 30th year. Celebrating all things vintage as well as vehicles and machinery, the first Crank-Up was held in 1986 on a local farm.

It began with a modest 25 tractors and other machinery for public display, and grew to become an annual event that prospers year after year.

In the year of 1988 it grew so large it relocated to the Edendale Recreation Grounds. It remains at those same grounds today, however it now incorporates all available space, as well as five additional paddocks of the adjacent Fonterra Farm. The Edendale Vintage Machinery Club wish to thank
