There’s plenty of ex­cit­ing events on in the town for vis­i­tors these hol­i­days in­clud­ing the Alexan­dra Sum­mer Mar­kets, ev­ery Satur­day through De­cem­ber, Jan­uary and Fe­bru­ary at Pi­o­neer Park in the cen­tre of town. The friendly, in­for­mal, Euro­pean-styled mar­ket has a wide va­ri­ety of food, hand­crafted goods, fresh fruit and veg­eta­bles and is open to any stall holder whether they wish to sell plants, pro­duce, craft, food, im­ported items or sec­ond hand goods.

Ford Tro­phy One Day Cricket:

Cricket fans will see lots of ex­cit­ing ac­tion on the field at Molyneux Park as the Ford Tro­phy One Day Cricket games get un­der­way this month. The SBS Bank Otago Volts will play the Auck­land Aces on De­cem­ber 27 from 11am and on De­cem­ber 30, the Volts will play Canterbury. Head along and catch an ex­cit­ing one day game with some of the coun­try’s best crick­eters com­pet­ing for do­mes­tic cricket’s top ac­co­lades. Bring the fam­ily and a pic­nic lunch or sit back with your friends and en­joy the hol­i­day spirit. Gate sale tick­ets only, adults $15, chil­dren $5 and fam­ily ticket $30.

In­ter­is­lander Sum­mer Fes­ti­val - Omakau Races

Held over two days, on Jan­uary 2 and 3, the nearby town of Omakau will host its an­nual trots. En­joy a fam­ily day out, bring a pic­nic and head along for some top notch har­ness rac­ing, live mu­sic, free kids en­ter­tain­ment, lo­cal food and wine at this spe­cial event.
