Alexandra Summer Markets:
There’s plenty of exciting events on in the town for visitors these holidays including the Alexandra Summer Markets, every Saturday through December, January and February at Pioneer Park in the centre of town. The friendly, informal, European-styled market has a wide variety of food, handcrafted goods, fresh fruit and vegetables and is open to any stall holder whether they wish to sell plants, produce, craft, food, imported items or second hand goods.
Ford Trophy One Day Cricket:
Cricket fans will see lots of exciting action on the field at Molyneux Park as the Ford Trophy One Day Cricket games get underway this month. The SBS Bank Otago Volts will play the Auckland Aces on December 27 from 11am and on December 30, the Volts will play Canterbury. Head along and catch an exciting one day game with some of the country’s best cricketers competing for domestic cricket’s top accolades. Bring the family and a picnic lunch or sit back with your friends and enjoy the holiday spirit. Gate sale tickets only, adults $15, children $5 and family ticket $30.
Interislander Summer Festival - Omakau Races
Held over two days, on January 2 and 3, the nearby town of Omakau will host its annual trots. Enjoy a family day out, bring a picnic and head along for some top notch harness racing, live music, free kids entertainment, local food and wine at this special event.
