Breen Construction is proud to present the Lauder Ukulele Festival of 2016 to be held on the Village Green beside the Lauder Hotel.
The Festival starts with the Bike It Now Earlybird Jam at the Lauder Pub on the evening of February 5 and it’s sure to be a weekend to be enjoyed by all.
Saturday morning, February 6, kicks off with workshops, continues with the Shebikeshebikes Big Sing (made up of all attending ukulele players singing together from 3pm-5pm) and ends with a ‘‘blackboard jam’’ in the evening when individuals and small groups will perform.
There will be workshops, lots of market stalls, a free ukulele concert on Sunday and, lastly, a festival wrap up on Monday morning with a Recovery Jam and Brunch at the Lauder Hotel.
The participants will attend a wide range of workshops covering such topics as Owning the Stage, Introduction to Bass, Picking Patterns, Ukulele for Rookies, Caring for your Ukulele and Silly Songs to bring humour into your life.
If you’re excited to hear the ukuleles in action, there will be a range of performances on the main stage on Sunday to appeal to all.
Performers will be visiting from Christchurch, Dunedin, Alexandra, Invercargill, Wanaka, Geraldine and further afield, and are must-sees on the stage.
From Hyram Ballard (lately of Dunedin) from the South Side of L.A, the Wanaka Ukuleles, LX Ukes, Paculeles, Ukeonz and Ukes in Thyme through to Lauder Ukes, Lady Friday Invercargill, Cool Az Kids, Highly Strung, Secret Lives of Ukuleles and The
