Country Music Festival as well.

Closer to home, she, along with The Heartleys, won the National Country Music Awards Best Duo/Group of the Year in 2012, along with the 2010 and 2013 Southland Album of the Year too.

Kayla has now recorded her debut album with producer Roger Corbett from The Valley Studio where she is stepping into a mature musicality offering personal reflection and creating her authentic country sound.

The year 2016 also brings plenty of excitement.

Kayla says she will be off to Nashville in June to perform on the Global Artist Showcase.

‘‘I won the Horizon Award in August which means I get the opportunity to go to Nashville, a paid trip, representing New Zealand.’’

She will then head over to Australia in July to meet with some of the top Australian song writers in country music.

‘‘I’m just trying to get more shows going. There’s lots of things going on. I’m also up for some awards at the Southland Entertainment Show in March.’’

It’s clear to see Kayla Mahon is continuing to take the country music scene by storm, so be a part of this journey by making your way to the Radio Wanaka Stage at 12pm and 3pm on Friday and Saturday to hear this talented musician in action.
