Pride and a generous bar tab

Central Otago Mirror - - FRONT PAGE -

There’s nothing that says hardy and ‘one with the land’ more so than sheaf tossing.

This year’s sheaf tossing competition will be akin to those in previous years, and it will undoubtedly be a source of entertainment for all.

The competition will be held by the bar at the far end of the Wanaka Showgrounds, adjacent to the main competitor ring.

Sheaf tossing is certainly an old favourite and entry is free with a bar tab and that good old ‘proud’ feeling up for grabs as the prize!

Make your way to the main ring just before 3.30pm to enter, ready to begin at 3.30pm.

So what is sheaf tossing? It’s a light hearted and fun competition to see how high you can toss a sheaf over a bar placed at a set height. There’s a lot at stake - the title of Wanaka A&P Show Sheaf Tosser of the Year, and the respect of all your mates!

Are you in? Get practicing...
