Top chefs step up to plate for Glammies Grand Final
The 2016 Beef + Lamb New Zealand Golden Lamb Awards, aka the Glammies, will be judged by a selection of New Zealand’s most esteemed chefs at the Grand Final in March.
Beef + Lamb New Zealand 2016 Ambassador Chefs and lifetime Platinum Ambassador Chefs are set to put their excellent culinary skills to good use to determine the 2016 Glammies Grand Champion.
Head judge, and Beef + Lamb New Zealand Advisory Chef, Graham Hawkes, will work alongside Ambassador Chefs, Andi Bozhiqi, Reon Hobson and Scott Kennedy, and Platinum Ambassadors, Michael Coughlin and Darren Wright, to taste test each of the 20 finalists.
"It’s always a privilege to be involved with the Glammies. New Zealand lamb is world-renowned and the Glammies competition is a way to recognise the farmers who produce it", says Hawkes.
Gold medallist and Iron Maiden, Lisa Carrington, will make a guest appearance at the Upper Clutha A&P show for the Grand Final on March 11.
The Glammies competition aims to find the most tender and tasty lamb in New Zealand from both farmer and retailer entries.
The top 20 finalists are chosen based on the scientific assessment of yield, tenderness, succulence and colour of each entry lamb leg at Carne Technologies.
The competition is supported by NZX Agri and Zoetis with processing plants across the country involved in the competition. These include: AFFCO, Alliance Group Ltd, ANZCO Foods Canterbury, Ashburton Meat Processors Ltd, Auckland Meat Processors/Wilson Hellaby, Blue Sky Meats, Cabernet Foods/Kintyre Meats, Harris Meats, Lean Meats, Progressive Meats, Silver Fern Farms and Taylor Preston.
