Stop off at The Gold Nugget

Central Otago Mirror - - FRONT PAGE -

While you are enjoying the Arrowtown Autumn Festival, visit The Gold Nugget on the main street. This is one of New Zealand’s most iconic arts, crafts, and souvenir stores. There was a shop on site in the 1880’s selling merchandise to the gold miners. Later it was a saddlery, then a milk bar, and finally in the 1950’s it became the first souvenir shop in the district.

The old girl now has over 60 years under her belt continuously selling an eclectic mix of general souvenirs, woodwork, pottery, glass wear, Maori items, prints, original paintings, clothing, and an enormous range of other items; this shop is a true treasure trove not to be missed. Arrowtown is a place oozing with character and history; The Gold Nugget fits in with this description perfectly.
