It’s hunt­ing com­pe­ti­tion time

This is the third year for the Cromwell Hunt­ing Com­pe­ti­tion – a fundraiser for Kid­sfirst Cromwell Kinder­garten.

All pro­ceeds raised from the hunt will go to­wards build­ing a new play­ground for the kindy.

For the com­pe­ti­tion it­self, here’s what you need to know:

Adults are in the hunt for a Red Stag, Fal­low Buck and Boar. There are prizes for heav­i­est an­i­mals, as well as the com­bined heav­i­est weight of all three. There are also prizes for the best Jaw and Best Head as well as the Clos­est to av­er­age weight boar.

There are also go­ing to be prizes for early en­try, first to weigh in, small­est an­i­mals, hard luck, lots of spot prizes, raf­fles, car­ry­ing com­pe­ti­tions and more.

Juniors (un­der 16 years) are go­ing af­ter the Crit­ter Bag. Com­pris­ing the heav­i­est com­bined weight of a fish, mag­pie, hare, rab­bit and pos­sum. There will be ad­di­tional sur­prise prize/s for the juniors as well for in­di­vid­ual an­i­mals as well as masses of spot prizes and car­ry­ing com­pe­ti­tions on weigh in!

There is $10,000+ in prizes – so ev­ery an­i­mal, big or small can be in to win. If you don’t man­age to bag an an­i­mal, you are still in the draw for the spot prizes. The Com­pe­ti­tion starts on Fri­day April 22. Weigh in is noon un­til 2.30pm Sun­day out­side the Golden Gate Lodge. En­tries close Thurs­day 21 April 5pm 2016. It is en­trant’s re­spon­si­bil­ity to en­sure they have the re­quired per­mis­sions/per­mits to hunt in their cho­sen area/s.
