FROM THE NEWS DESK
Last week I attended a conference with representatives of the 50-odd Fairfax-owned community newspapers in New Zealand.
Regular readers might remember that we redesigned the layout of our papers last year. This work was informed by a research project, which has gone on to win an international award.
It told us that the main thing you wanted from your community newspaper was local news. The kind you don’t get elsewhere. This week we bring you at least 10 pages from your neighbourhood.
We also learned you wanted ‘‘Whats On’’ listings and to know what events are happening, see pages 2, 12 and 13.
Another key area was dining. We haven’t run our popular Mirror restaurant reviews for a while. Do you want to see them back?
We also want to hear any other ideas you have for the Mirror. Please get in touch and let us know.
