Rising stars head to Wanaka
Chamber music’s Trinity Trio is Wanaka-bound.
Auckland sisters Stella (violin) and Sally Kim (cello), and their friend Tina Kim (piano) are in the early 20s and were born in Korea before shifting to New Zealand as children.
The University of Aucklandbased trio describe themselves as ’’friends who love to play together’’ and chose their name to reflect their shared Christian values as well as the spiritual dimension of their music.
They won the prestigious Pettman Royal Overseas League Arts Chamber Music Scholarship, worth $50,000, in 2013. As part of their prizewinner’s tour they performed 12 concerts around the United Kingdom, including the International Edinburgh Music Festival.
Trinity Trio will perform Mozart’s Trio in B flat major K502, Paul Schoenfield’s Cafe´ Music, and Brahms’ Trio No 1 in B major Op 8 in Wanaka. The concert is presented by the Wanaka Concert Society and Chamber Music New Zealand and supported by the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
