Central Otago Mirror - - WHAT’S ON - DASHA KUPRIENKO

A Queenstown company is offering a scholarship for big dreamers and high achievers in the region.

Five thousand dollars is up for grabs from Roost Mortgage Brokers for a talented New Zealander of any age.

Queenstown branch manager Emma Pullar said the community was rich with creativity.

The region was full of ’’ambition, talent and drive’’ and the company was keen to support

it.

‘‘The spirit of the people we learn about is astounding and we are proud to provide a helping hand to those with such epic dreams,’’ Pullar said.

The scholarship winner in 2012, Holly Mathieson, said $10,000 made her dream of being an international orchestral conductor become true.

‘‘As a creative artist starting out, everything we do is either unpaid, or we pay for the privilege, and it’s that way for many years.’’

Mathieson said the perfect applicant would be someone who has a project in mind and not just a hobby.

‘‘This is for big dreamers, high achievers, people with incredible drive and determination.

‘‘If you would be happy throwing yourself at your project without pay or recognition for the next 20 years, then you’re doing the right thing. This award will help you turn it into a sustainable reality.’’
