It’s prob­a­bly linked to in­creas­ing wa­ter tem­per­a­tures due to cli­mate change cre­at­ing suitable con­di­tions for cy­clotella to flour­ish, though of course nu­tri­ent pol­lu­tion prob­a­bly also plays a strong role.
