‘Best yet’ Asian food at Night Noo­dle Mart

The Queen­stown Night Noo­dle Mar­kets will pro­vide the ‘‘best mix yet’’ as the event works its way through New Zealand, or­gan­is­ers say.

Fair­fax Me­dia NZ events man­ager Brett McMeekin said the 14 ven­dors rep­re­sented cui­sine from across Asia, in­clud­ing Filipino food, Ja­panese, Malaysian, Nepalese, Chi­nese and Viet­namese.

Sev­eral lo­cal Queen­stown ven­dors, in­clud­ing Taco Medic, Madam Woo, Erik’s Noo­dles and The Shan’s Kitchen would be joined by ven­dors from all over New Zealand and Hoy Pi­noy, from Aus­tralia.

Hoy Pi­noy was the top sell­ing ven­dor in all Australian and New Zealand noo­dle mar­kets with their Filipino chicken skewer in tra­di­tional mari­nade and pork belly skewer in ba­nana ketchup glaze - which would sell for two for $12.

‘‘They’re awe­some,’’ McMeekin said. ‘‘I’ve tried to get their se­cret out of them but they won’t tell me.’’

De­spite the name of the mar­kets, there was a lot more avail­able than just noo­dles.

Dumplings were an Asian sta­ple, and Christchurch eatery Pot Sticker would be bring­ing a pork and gar­lic va­ri­ety and chicken with co­rian­der (both $10).

Momo Said Dumplings, of Christchurch, would bring Nepalese dumplings with chicken, pork and veg­etable all on the menu ($12).

Dunedin-based Kh­mer Satay Aways would be sell­ing their fa­mous sa­tays ($10).

New lo­cal favourite Taco Medic would be sell­ing their own fu­sion ver­sion with a gluten free sticky pork taco and a Thai mush­room and cu­cum­ber salsa Taco (both $7).

An­other Queen­stown new­comer, Erik’s Fish and Chips, will be trans­form­ing into Erik’s Noo­dles for five days and will sell Asian Lamb Noo­dles fus­ing north­ern Chi­nese spices with New Zealand lamb (small $6, large $10) and a sweet dish - Thai Crepes, filled with ba­nana, co­conut cream and driz­zled with choco­late sauce ($5.50)

The Night Noo­dle Mar­kets will be open on Queen­stown’s lake­front (Marine Pa­rade) Wed­nes­day Septem­ber 28 - Sun­day October 2 with an ar­ray of Asian style food and en­ter­tain­ment on of­fer.
